Emily’s Story

I first started with a bad neck and headaches at the start of November which progressively got worse.

I first went to A&E in the middle of November, which they said was just muscular pain. On the 28th of November 2021, I woke up in unbearable pain, I couldn’t lift my head off my pillow. My mum rushed me to the hospital as she knew something wasn’t right. 48 hours later, I was diagnosed with CVST at the age of 22. I had to be transferred to a neuro hospital where I stayed for four weeks. I lost my vision and what felt like my previous life. I’m so thankful for the doctors and my mum, who had to be told ‘we’re doing everything we can, the critical care team is here just in case’.

I am now recovering great and going from strength to strength. I have since been diagnosed with a genetic clotting disorder.
