Thrombosis Ireland is a non-profit, patient-led and fully voluntary registered charity which was established in 2016 in response to the lack of supports available at the time for individuals affected with the potentially life-threatening diagnosis of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Our primary mission is to provide support to affected patients and their families, but also to educate and raise awareness of thrombosis risk among patients, healthcare providers and the general public.
In recent years, significant advances have been made in the field of VTE prevention and treatment. While VTE continues to be recognised as a leading cause of preventable mortality (including the number one cause of direct maternal mortality in the UK and Ireland), we have witnessed a concerted effort by many of our healthcare providers to improve the quality of VTE prevention and treatment in this country.
In recognition of these efforts, Thrombosis Ireland are delighted to announce the launch of our inaugural VTE Exemplar Awards. These awards will celebrate high-levels of achievement in a number of key areas as outlined below.
We are delighted to now invite you to nominate any individual healthcare provider/hospital/or your hospital group in the categories below in recognition of their efforts. With these awards, Thrombosis Ireland aims to showcase outstanding individuals and hospital teams/hospital groups who have excelled in areas such as leadership & education, quality improvement, research & innovation and patient safety.
The entry categories are as follows, you may enter one or all categories areas.
The closing date for entries is 5pm, Tuesday August 21st 2021
We will announce our shortlist of nominees on Friday October 1st 2021 and winners will be announced at the prestigious International VTE Dublin 2021 Conference on October 7th 2021.
We look forward to receiving your entries.
